Research Fields I am interested in politics in South Africa in the post-Apartheid era, particularly, on roles of civil society groups and social movement in the process of public policy development. I have conducted my research in policy-related fields, such as Social Security, labor, HIV/AIDS, and disabilities. I have a focus on advocacy (policy recommendation) activities by NGOs and interested groups, and the relationships such groups have developed with the government, political parties, experts and local residents. Additionally, I have researched the anti-Apartheid movement in Japan as a part of the history of the international solidarity movement against Apartheid.
